Does Fornication Automatically Break The Marriage Bond?
No. A person needs to recognize the dangerous implications of upholding that fornication automatically breaks the marriage bond. Let us give an example for clarification.
A husband and wife have been married for six years. The husband has been able to hide from his wife his sin of fornication with several women for the past two out of the six years of the marriage. His wife is ignorant of her husband's sinful activities. If fornication automatically breaks the marriage bond, then the dangerous implication of the doctrine is that the wife (the innocent mate) unknowingly has been committing fornication with this man who is supposedly no longer her husband.
The innocent mate has the prerogative of whether he/she will put away that mate for the cause of fornication once the sin is discovered (Matthew 5:31,32; 19:9).
