Is The Church of Christ The New Israel?
Yes.
Paul is dealing with the false doctrine of the Judaizing teachers who were compelling Gentile Christians to submit to the law of Moses and physical circumcision. Paul writes to combat it with the truth that the new Israel is, in fact, the church of Christ in Galatians 6:16: "And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God."
Peter would later write that we also are the new Israel in 1 Peter 2:9,10: "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy."
