Is Everyone Amenable to The Laws of God on Marriage, Divorce and Remarriage?
Is Everyone Amenable to The Laws of God on Marriage, Divorce and Remarriage?
Yes.
God-ordained marriage is between one male and one female for life (this has been God’s law since creation, Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:3-12; Romans 7:1-4). The Lord permitted only one reason for the divorce of a God-sanctioned marriage (fornication on the part of one of the spouses, Matthew 19:9).
There are many false doctrines that are being taught on divorce and remarriage. One of these false doctrines is that a person who is a non-Christian is not amenable (not accountable, not under) the laws God has established regarding marriage, divorce and remarriage (Matthew 5:31,32; 19:9).
We can know this because everyone this side of the cross of Christ is amenable to the words of Jesus (as well as the rest of the New Testament writers). Please see the verses in the logical, irrefutable syllogism below:
Jesus is going to judge each of us by His words. Matthew 19:9 are the words of Jesus Himself. Therefore, all of us will be judged by Jesus’ laws on marriage, divorce, and remarriage (Hebrews 13:4).
Major Premise: All non-Christians and Christians (after the cross – Hebrews 9:15-17) are persons who will be judged by the words of Jesus (John 12:48; Acts 17:30; 2 Corinthians 5:10,11).
Minor Premise: The words of Matthew 5:31,32; 19:9 are the words of Jesus.
Conclusion: Therefore, all non-Christians and Christians are persons who will be judged by the words of Jesus (John 12:48; Acts 17:30; 2 Corinthians 5:10,11).
