WORSHIP-4 - Worshiping in Song

The apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 14:15, "I'll sing with the spirit,
and I'll sing with the understanding. I'll pray with the spirit, and I'll pray with
the understanding," 1 Corinthians 14:15.
We welcome you today to our study of worshiping God through our
singing. What a great subject the idea of worship is. We have the privilege
to bring God the honor and glory with our voices by the singing that we do,
and we can uplift and laud and magnify the beauty of our God.
As we think about the subject of singing and the music that Christians
use in our worship to serve God, this is indeed a very important subject.
For as you read the Bible, it's one of the ways Christians, together,
corporately worshiped Almighty God. If we're going to worship God
correctly today, we need to do it in the way that God has asked us to.
As we think about the subject of singing and as we think about the
subject of music in our praise of God, let's begin by reminding ourselves
that what we do in worship and how a Christian even lives his life must be
governed by the authority of God. Don't we all agree that we need to do
what God asks us to? We need to listen to God and obey the voice of God
to be pleasing to him. Even Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my
commandments."

WORSHIP-3 - Preaching as an Act of Worship

The Bible says, “Preach the word. Be instant in season and out of
season. Reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all long suffering and doctrine,” 2
Timothy 4:2.
We welcome you today to our study of worshiping God by the
preaching of His message. The Bible is God's divine revelation. When we
preach that message, we bring glory and honor to almighty God.
As we think today about the subject of worshiping God through the
proclamation, the preaching of His word, what a wonderful privilege it is.
The Psalmist said, “Oh come, let us kneel before the Lord our maker.”
That's the idea. We have the privilege to bow down before God and bring
Him honor and glory. Friend, when we preach and teach what God says in
the Bible, we're giving God the absolute praise and honor because it's His
voice, not men's, that's being heard. Preaching the word of God is an
awesome responsibility and an awesome privilege. We need to preach the
word. 2 Timothy 4:2, preach the Bible. Peter said, “If any man speaks let
him speak as the oracles of God,” 1 Peter 4:11. Paul told Titus in Titus 2:1,
“As for you, preach the things which are proper for sound doctrine.” And
God said to Jonah in Jonah 3:2, “Preach the preaching that I tell you.”
That's the privilege and the responsibility that is associated with gospel
preaching.

WORSHIP-2 - Worshiping Through the Lord's Supper & Giving

The Bible says that ‘the disciples came together on the first day of the
week to break bread,’ Acts 20:7.
We welcome you today to our study of worshiping God through the
actions of partaking the Lord's Supper, and giving.
Today we're thinking about two various aspects of ways that we
worship God, and especially as we worship God corporately, together with
God's people, and through the action of giving as well, and those ways are
through taking the Lord's Supper, and through the action of giving. We're
going to focus on what the Bible says on these subjects.
What do we know on the subject of the Lord's Supper, especially?
We know that Jesus instituted it in Matthew 26:26-28. Jesus, as at that last
supper with His disciples, took that fruit of the vine. He took that
unleavened bread. “This is my blood, this is my body.” He said to them, “Do
this in remembrance of me.” We know that Christians in the New
Testament did partake of the Lord's Supper. We noted in Acts 20:7, the
disciples came together on the first day of the week for that purpose, to
break bread. We want to learn what we can about the Lord's Supper, so
that when we partake of it, we do it in a way that brings honor, and glory,
and really worships God.

WORSHIP-1 - Worshiping in Prayer

The scripture says, “God is spirit and those worship him must worship
in spirit and in truth,” John 4:24.
We welcome you today to our study of the subject of worship.
Worship is one of great things you find in the Bible, as man has that ability
and that privilege to humble himself before his maker and to praise and
honor and magnify God for the many wonderful blessings and benefits He's
given for His children.
In this series of lessons especially, we're going to focus on items or
actions of worship specifically that Christians may do in a corporate
worship setting. When we go to worship on Sunday morning or Sunday
night or when we gather with a group of Christians- what are some of the
things that God has given us the privilege to do in our worship? How do we
do those in such a way that it brings God the glory and the honor that he
deserves?
